So I’ve started a new long project for Redrum Horror out of Austin, Texas. It’s a group thing featuring a character created by the publisher, Ed Kurtz. As a writer, I’ve always avoided this type of project (I’ve turned down three similar projects in the last year.) mostly because I like generating original material, but the character that Ed’s created is pretty unique and I’ve wanted to fool around with a horror/hardboiled hybrid for awhile now. I’m 2000 words in and have a solid outline written up, (Outlines are a rarity for me. I’d rather just wing it most of the time.) so I’m feeling pretty confident at this point.
